Tips for Dieting During the Holidays

First, pat yourself on the back for sticking to your diet this time of year. It is tough task, particularly, with all them temptations lurking at every holiday table. With a little help from your friends at Ideal Change, you can come out of this holiday season feeling better than when you went in. Here are our tips for dieting during the holidays to help you survive the holidays:

  1. Eat before you attend an event.
  2. Wear something that reveals your new weight loss.
  3. Pack an IP-friendly snack in your purse or pocket, if a craving hits.
  4. Take an IP-friendly dish to the party to share. (Check out our Santa Salad)
  5. Decline leftovers or to-go packages.
  6. Prepare yourself mentally; remind yourself this phase is temporary.
  7. Avoid ALL alcoholic beverages. Perhaps, try an IP-friendly mocktail recipe instead.
  8. Accept the fact; you are NEVER given permission to cheat on this diet.
  9. Text your coach if you need advice or encouragement! You’re not alone!
  10. Plan ahead! Prepare your own IP recipes in advance for the week.

Santa Salad with Dijon Mint Dressing (Phases 1-4)

Preparation: 15 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chopped radicchio
  • 2 cups arugula
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 10 radishes, sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup green onions
  • 1 stock red Swiss chard chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper sliced
  • Alfalfa sprouts (optional)

Salad Dressing:

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Stevia
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried mint (or use fresh mint)
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary (or use fresh rosemary)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 dash sea salt
  • Pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients in salad bowl. Add dressing to coat salad or serve on the side. Add alfalfa sprouts last to garnish.

IP Mojito

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Perrier
  • 1 cup tap water
  • 1 full drop of liquid Stevia
  • 1 sprig of mint leaves
  • 3 splashes of rum extract
  • 1 splash of lemon juice

Muddle mint leaves in bottom of a tall glass.  Add Stevia, lemon juice and rum extract. Add ice, then pour in water and top with Perrier.

Garnish with fresh mint or a lime.

IP Bloody Mary

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet IP Tomato Basil Soup
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Spices: black pepper, tabasco, celery salt (add till preferred taste)
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 1 dill pickle
  • 1 lemon slice

Mix Tomato Basil Soup and 8 oz. of COLD water thoroughly in shaker. Add spices and pepper to taste and stir. Pour over ice into highball glass. Garnish with celery, dill pickle, and lemon.

IP Mimosa

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet IP Orange Drink
  • 4 oz cold water
  • 4 oz Pierrier

Mix Orange Drink with 4 oz COLD water thoroughly in shaker. Add 4 oz Perrier and stir. Pour into champagne glass. Add ice if desired.
